Compliance and Risk Management

Our compliance program consists of internal policies and procedures that provide oversight and control over our activities. The risk management team operates through all phases of the investment and property management process, including:

  • Screen countries for inclusion in the investment strategies.
  • Design a diversified investment portfolio to reduce the risks of any single investment.
  • Manage the risk of each investment throughout its life.

The acquisition process takes into account the project-specific risks associated with tree growth, production costs, prices and markets, legal and political factors, and physical risks such as fire, insects and diseases. The portfolio manager and investment committees monitor each investment for significant change in these risk factors, and we review the effectiveness of the program annually.

We participate in TIAA-CREF’s Enterprise Risk Management process, which promotes a culture that supports intelligent risk-taking and decision-making.
