GreenWood Resources and its subsidiaries (GreenWood) today announced an agreement with Phaunos Timber Fund Limited (Phaunos) resulting in a US$200 million capital commitment towards investments into China tree farms. GreenWood has been operating in China since 2000 and has developed key resources and relationships leading to attractive opportunities for investing into plantation assets in this dynamic forest industry region of the world. GreenWood will be working with this capital and others to invest into existing plantations and new tree farm development opportunities organized and managed by GreenWood.

“We are excited to continue our relationship with Phaunos. After our success of securing and investing US$175 million from multiple clients into our GreenWood Tree Farms business in the Pacific Northwest, we have focused on developing opportunities in other geographic regions.” commented Jeff Nuss, President/CEO at GreenWood Resources, Inc. “We have been a firm believer in the value of investing into the China forest industry and the opportunities represented from our efforts in the country. We have uniquely organized ourselves globally to provide value to the timberland investing community looking to invest in emerging opportunities geographically and into innovative fast growing tree farm species that have improved plant material and intensive silvicultural management.”

Dr. Brian Stanton, GreenWood’s Managing Director of Global Tree Improvement commented: “The value of improved plant material should not be understated and we are excited to work with Phaunos and our Chinese partners in the deployment of the best material for securing the greatest returns.”
