Mairtin Brady

TIAA Asset Management, Senior MD ERM Governance & Operational Risk Management

Mairtin Brady is a Senior Managing Director at TIAA-CREF, responsible for ERM Governance & Operational Risk Management, having joined TIAA-CREF in November 2010.

Previously Mr. Brady was a Managing Director and the head of global Private Wealth Management (PWM) and Research Technology at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (MSSB). In this capacity, he was responsible for supporting the PWM business in the USA, Latin America, EMEA including the Swiss Bank, Asia and Australia. He worked closely with business leaders to build strategies and plans to transform the technology platform and processes supporting the business globally and in particular regions. He also worked extensively on the integration of the PWM business into the MSSB JV platform.

Before Morgan Stanley, Mr. Brady was a Managing Director and Global Head of PWM Technology at Goldman Sachs in New York. He played a key role in leading a complete overhaul of the Wealth Management technology platform and business processes to support the shift to a fee based open architecture advisory business. Earlier he had led the Technology function for the Goldman Sachs & Co. Private Bank in Zürich, Switzerland, where he supported it from “start-up” stage to becoming an established business.

Mr. Brady started his career with Price Waterhouse, first in Ireland as a system developer working on software development projects in different industries across Europe, including Food Processing, Ingredients, Oil and Gas Distribution, Pharmaceuticals and Financial Services. He relocated to London, England to focus on Financial Services. There he undertook process re-engineering projects and the development of business and technology strategies for a variety of financial services organizations including Life & General Insurance, Credit Insurance, Investment Banking, Card Processing, and Retail Banking as well as fulfilling a number of interim CIO positions.

He served as member of an Irish Government Financial Services Advisory panel for 4 years advising Irish Technology start-up companies on their strategies and how to market themselves to US Financial Services companies.

Mr. Brady is a graduate of University College Dublin, where he earned a B.Comm degree in MIS, Economics & Operations Management and a Post Graduate of Trinity College Dublin Graduate school of Engineering, where he studied and lectured on Computer Modeling & Simulation.
