Carlos Gantz

Director, Tree Improvement and Nursery Operations

Carlos Gantz is the Director of Tree Improvement and Nursery Operations at GreenWood Resources, Inc. Mr. Gantz is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of the genetic tree improvement program within GWR internationally. He has more than 20 years of experience in the genetic tree improvement of pines and eucalypts. Prior to joining GWR, he was the leader of the Pine genetic improvement and biotechnology program in Forestal Mininco, member of the forestry and pulping technology research team in CMPC, in Chile, and member of the Technical Committee of CAMCORE, an international tree breeding and conservation organization based at North Carolina State University. He also worked as a tree improvement researcher in Bioforest, the research branch of the Arauco group, the largest forestry company in Chile. Prior to this, he was a Forest Ecology professor at Universidad Austral de Chile.

Mr. Gantz received a B.Sc. in Forestry from Universidad Austral de Chile and a M.S. in Forestry with emphasis in forest genetics and tree improvement of wood properties, from North Carolina State University at Raleigh (NC).
